Food and Beverage

Air knives can be used in many ways in the food and beverage industry. They offer an obvious advantage in an industry that tries to minimize the physical handling of their product for the sake of sanitation. A blower-powered air knife also does not introduce the kinds of contamination often found in compressed air systems, such as oil.

Examples of applications in this industry include: drying bottles and cans of all shapes and sizes, drying cold cans and bottles long enough to print date or batch codes on them or glue labels to them, removing excess grease from fried chips, removing meat waste that clings to a conveyor, blowing excess frost off of frozen packages, blowing crumbs out of baking ovens.

Typical velocities range from 20,000 to 40,000 fpm.
